Google bans Huawei from using Android Operating System

Google has put restrictions on Huawei limiting their use of its Android Operating system on Huawei phones.

The ban means that new Huawei phones will no longer support and have access to certain apps such as YouTube and Google Maps and existing phones will not be able to upgrade their Android Operating Systems.

Huawei currently being the second largest smartphone sellers after Samsung and has long relied on Google’s Android Operating system for running their smartphones and tablets. This comes as a big blow to the Chinese giant phone makers.

This comes as the US President Donald Trump announced a list of companies that US firms cannot trade with if they don’t have a license. This can be likened to the ongoing US-China trade war.

Us claims Huawei may be obliged to spy for Beijing, which Huawei has subsequently denied.
